Recommendations fluid head and tripod for Panasonic ag-ux180

Joel, we decided to go with your camcorder recommendation of Panasonic ag-ux180.

What is a good tripod and fluid head to go with it? (some of the suggestions are really expensive)

We want something good/solid without breaking the bank, thanks!

Are you putting the tripod on a platform?

The less the tripod has to extend the better off you'll be for stability and budget-friendly options.

budget is fairly flexible, but we won't be dropping 1k on a tripod

If this is the case what do you recommend. I want to make sure that it is sturdy and safe.

Ok, cool. How high will the camera lens need to go to be eye level with your subject(s)? This is going to determine how high the tripod needs to be able to extend.

The tripod will be in the back of the sanctuary. from the back, there is a slight slope down to the stage. it's pretty much a wash as the stage is elevated. so eye to eye is for the most part level

Gotcha, that makes sense.

Just be sure to think through people walking/standing in front of the camera. If the camera can't get above everyone's heads then that is something to consider as you plan this out.

In this situation I would probably recommend the Manfrotto Nitrotech 608 fluid head.

As far as tripod, this can be adjusted a bit for your budget. Just be sure to get one with a flat base if you choose the Nitrotech fluid head.

If you want a tripod that will last a long time and give you tons of flexibility, then check out the Manfrotto 028B tripod (affiliate link). It is built solidly and can go up over 7'.

If you want a decent budget-friendly option, then check out the Manfrotto 755XB tripod. It won't be as stable as some of the tandem leg designs, but it is a good bang for the buck if you're on a tighter budget.
