I have a GT-j120d that the controller unit has died now 3 times on me within the last 8 months...the two times previously GVM was very responsive and replaced quickly.
this time, three support emails later no contact and the phone number they provided has a full inbox...

looking for a similar priced alternative motorized camera slider

48"+
pan/rotation settings
just needs to support a BMPCC 4k with lens

Interesting. I guess that's part of the risk involved with these lower cost brands with little customer service.

I'm just curious, how are the controllers dying?

I don't have a thorough knowledge of all the options out there, but I do know GVM kinda held the top spot for that price range of motorized sliders.

You may want to check out brands like Konova, CAME-TV, and YC Onion. They're going to be similar to GVM in terms of quality and customer service, though.

so i am not exactly sure what is happening, the first time, the controller unit just stopped powering up. they sent a replacement. the second time suddenly the slider would no longer move. i assumed that the motor was burned up, but when they sent a whole replacement , i tested just the controller unit first and it worked fine again.
GRANTED, i do leave the controller powered up 24/7 (NOT operating/sliding) and my assumption was that was burning up the little motor but it wasnt.
if i get it replaced again i will endure the annoyance of powering up/down and reprogramming each use to see if i get more life out of it.
