Panasonic AG-CX350 4K

So, I'm switching from Blackmagic 4Ks to the Panasonic AG-CX350 4Ks. (At least I want to.) We tried them out, and while I love them, they just don't work with our Sunday morning broadcast flow, given that we have 3 Panasonic AW-HE130s, and one of them is getting ready to be our main static shot to perfectly center our pulpit.

So, I go on Amazon and B & H to look up the aforementioned camcorder, and they're on backorder. I do, however, see they (B & H) have at least 1 used one.

I'm not opposed to getting a used one, because this would be a temporary move (in our main sanctuary anyways, until we're able to get the URSA Broadcast Cameras I want), but I'm curious as to why they are so scarce now? In the case that B & H only has 1 used one available, are there any other Panasonic cameras available that have LANC capabilities?

Great question.

I am always very hesitant to recommend or personally purchase used cameras. You just never know how the camera was used and/or abused before. I've seen good experiences with used cameras and I've seen frustrating and disappointing experiences with used cameras. All in all, when you're spending that much money on a camera I always prefer a new model from the factory with the full warranty.

If you want to match the HE130s then most of the 4K Panasonic prosumer/professional camcorders will match pretty well. You can also check out the UX90 and UX180, which should be very similar to the HE130 in terms of performance and image quality.

As for finding things in stock, that's unfortunately a disaster for most electronics right now, not just for Panasonic. At this point it's either wait for stock to arrive (sometimes upwards of 6 months) or compromise with your plan B/C/D/etc options to find things that are in stock.

joelwsmith Luckily, they have plenty of UX180s in stock. This should get us through until we're ready to upgrade, which I'm hoping will be sooner than later. lol.
